2026년 3월 26일 – 4월 30일 서울시 종로구 북촌로 5길 15, B1 BROWN SPECTRUM #03 <반복의 시간>은 척박한 자연을 견디며 삶을 지탱해온 제주인의 지혜, 그 중심에 있는 ‘정동벌립’과 무형유산 정동벌립장 홍양숙의 손길에서 출발한 전시입니다. UMBER POSTPAST가 주목해온 전통의 가치는 이번 전시를 통해 단순한 공예를 넘어, 수천 번의 손길이 쌓여 만들어진 ‘시간의 물성과 반복’으로 치환됩니다. 이번 전시는 정동(댕댕이덩굴)이 장인의 섬세한 손마디를 거쳐 하나의 형태를 갖추기까지의 집요한 과정을 조명합니다. 거친 재료를 다스리고 일정한 호흡으로 엮어가는 행위는, 잊혀가는 전통 기술을 현대적인 감각으로 길어 올리는 UMBER POSTPAST의 작업 세계와 긴밀하게 맞닿아 있습니다. 전시의 중심에는 홍양숙 보유자가 평생에 걸쳐 쌓아온 숙련된 반복의 미학과, 이를 동시대적인 시선으로 재해석한 UMBER POSTPAST의 큐레이션이 교차합니다. 정동줄기 하나하나가 겹쳐지며 견고한 짜임이 되듯, 이번 전시는 결과물로서의 사물 이전에 그 형태를 만들기 위해 보낸 인고의 시간과 장인 정신이 기록된 하나의 서사를 상징합니다. <반복의 시간>은 과거와 현재, 섬과 육지, 그리고 만드는 이와 향유하는 이 사이의 경계를 유연하게 연결하며, 사물이 지닌 깊은 농도의 시간을 제안합니다. 정동벌립의 견고한 짜임 속에 담긴 고유한 숨결은 이 전시를 통해 비로소 우리 삶의 새로운 감각으로 이어집니다.

March 26 – April 30, 2026 B1, 15 Bukchon-ro 5-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul BROWN SPECTRUM #03 <TIME AFTER TIME> originates from the wisdom of Jeju islanders who endured harsh nature to sustain life—specifically through ‘Jeongdong Beollip’ (traditional vine hats) and the hands of Hong Yang-suk, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Intangible Cultural Heritage holder of Jeongdong Beollip-jang. Through this exhibition, the traditional values that UMBER POSTPAST cherishes transcend mere craft, being translated into the ‘materiality and iteration of time’ created through thousands of manual touches. This exhibition illuminates the tenacious process by which Jeongdong (wild vine) takes shape through the artisan's delicate fingertips. The act of taming raw materials and weaving them with a rhythmic breath closely aligns with UMBER POSTPAST’s creative world, which brings fading traditional techniques into the light of contemporary sensibility. At the heart of the exhibition lies a convergence between the aesthetics of skilled repetition accumulated over a lifetime by master artisan Hong Yang-suk and the curation of UMBER POSTPAST, which reinterprets this heritage through a modern lens. Just as individual vine strands overlap to form a sturdy weave, this exhibition symbolizes a narrative of the endurance and craftsmanship invested long before the final object emerged. <TIME AFTER TIME> fluidly connects the boundaries between past and present, island and mainland, and creator and observer, suggesting a profound density of time held within an object. The innate breath captured in the firm weave of Jeongdong Beollip finally extends into a new sense of living through this exhibition.
